The Truth About Mold in Denver Homes

One of the largest concerns when it comes to indoor air quality inside of Denver area homes is mold. Mold can grow rapidly when exposed to small amounts of water and an adequate food source. Cellulose is one of the most common food sources for mold, and it can be found in many of the construction materials that are used inside of your home or office.

What most people fail to realize, is that mold can hide very easily. Even though you may be unable to see or smell mold, it could be growing inside of walls or in attic spaces. The biggest problem with mold is that it releases mold spores. These spores can shed various particles that release dangerous toxins into your home or office.

Health Concerns Related to Mold

Because mold spores can spread throughout the home so easily, it has been associated with a variety of health concerns across the world. Many studies and reports have been written that provide scientific evidence of these health concerns, and although this list is not entirely complete, here are some of the main concerns you should have if you suspect the presence of mold in your home.

  • Asthma
  • Frequent Headaches
  • Chronic Pain
  • Sleeplessness
  • Blurred Vision
  • Fatigue
  • Hypersensitivity
  • Numbness

Studies have also shown that children tend to be more sensitive to some of the harmful effects associated with mold. One of the first things that anyone should do if they are displaying symptoms, like these listed above, is to call your family physician immediately. If you think that the symptoms are directly related to mold, you may want to call a medical professional that deals with mold toxicity patients, sometimes called mycotoxicosis.

After you make sure that you and your family are healthy, you will want to make sure that you take the proper steps to remove the mold from your house. The Process of Removing Mold From Your Home

Everything we do at RESCON is process driven. It’s the only way to get proven results when it comes to the multitude of emergency services that our company provides to our clients. Removing mold is no different, and our 5-step mold removal process is the best approach to rid your home of the dangers associated with mold.

When you call our office, here is the process that our team will take to remove the mold:

  1. The first step in the mold removal process centers on containing the area where the mold was discovered. The area where the mold was found is called the target area, and the areas where mold is not present are referred to as the non-target areas. Containing the target area prohibits the spores from spreading into the non-target areas, where contamination would result in an even bigger problem. This is a very important part of our process.
  2. Next, we deploy the latest equipment that acts as a scrubber to the indoor air. This part of our process cleans the indoor air of the spores created from the mold by using our heppa filtered air scrubbers. This machine attracts the spores that are in the air, runs them through the machine and releases clean air into the home.
  3. In this phase, we move our attention to removing the material where the mold was found. This involves the disposal of all porous materials that may have been exposed to the mold. Depending on what we find, this can include drywall, flooring, insulation and carpeting if necessary.
  4. After the area has been contained, the air scrubbed and the material has been removed – we now have to kill the mold. To accomplish this, RESCON will use a specialized moldicide that is recognized by the EPA and meets industry standards. This special application is manufactured specifically for our industry, and will help us make sure that the mold will not return.
  5. The next step is all about the final touches. We will want to repair or replace the area that was ripped out back to its pre-loss condition. So, when we leave your home, it’s as good as new. Our skilled crews will repair the area where the mold was removed, so your family will be healthy and your biggest investment is safe from future mold damage.
